Project Engineer

The Project Engineer will support the execution of biomass-based and chemical projects, with a focus on the development of the PLA biopolymer production facility. The role involves coordinating project activities from the Owner side, ensuring technical and quality compliance, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive the successful completion of projects in alignment with sustainability and operational excellence goals. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to Emirates Biotech’s mission of advancing sustainable biopolymer solutions while ensuring excellence in project execution. This position will report to our EPC Project Delivery Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordination & Communication: Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Technical Compliance: Review and ensure compliance with engineering designs, technical specifications, and industry standards.
  • Consultants, Contractors & Vendors Management: Support the Project Manager in managing consultants, contractors, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring adherence to quality and contractual obligations.
  • Project Planning & Execution: Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing project activities in line with project scope, budget, and timeline. Support Project Control in report preparation
  • Risk Management: Monitor project progress, identify and report risks, and implement mitigation measures.
  • Site Supervision: Conduct site inspections and oversee installation, commissioning, and testing activities.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain project documentation, including reports, design reviews, and progress updates.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Compliance: Assist in ensuring all projects comply with HSE regulations and Emirates Biotech’s sustainability objectives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate coordination between multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to drive project efficiency.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project execution processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 10 years of Experience working on capital projects, preferably within the UAE, or GCC Region.
  • Familiarity with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Experience in Chemical EPC projects is a must.
  • Experience in sustainable projects, particularly biopolymers or circular economy initiatives is a plus.
  • Understanding of HSE regulations and industry best practices. Invested in Safety as a personal value.
  • Knowledge of plant construction, commissioning, and operational startup.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of start-to-end project development, including feasibility studies, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational startup.
  • Korean Experience and Korean language proficiency is is essential for effective communication with our Korean-speaking stakeholders and project teams
  • Open for business trips to stakeholders’ respective locations.
  • Ready to follow up construction on site, located in KEZAD FZ.

 

Education/Certifications/experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical or civil .
  • 10+ years of experience in project execution, preferably in biopolymers, petrochemical or chemical industries.
